Okay lets talk some Nails! With just so0o many different methods to be used is one really better than the other? Down below i will go through the different methods you may use to enhance the over all look of your Nails; but also boost your confidence! I always feel so0o DAMN Good when i have my nails done, Like; look at this and look at that just so I can point at things~or the whole twirling of the hair and the just complete crazy hand gestures i do lol.
1. SHAPING & BUFFING
Even if you dont use polish just buffing and shaping your nails will most certainly enhance the overall look of your nails. You are molding your natural nail into what you want; this may take time and it may not *(everything takes practice)* you may get on the first shot and be very happy with your nails or it could go the other way; and take some practice to get where you want to be.
2. SPLASH OF COLOR
Everyone loves that splash of color on their nails. Nothing makes a better statement than wearing red lipstick and the red nail polish to match. Ever since i was a little girl i have always loved painting my nails. I think we can all say that painting our nails was one of first girly things we did as children.
3. Acrylic Nails
For the most part people usually get Acrylic Nails done the first time. Not that it is any better than any other method however before Gel and all the new methods of doing nails it was the it thing! Now there are so many different ways of getting your nails done. Using Acrylic is a combination of a powder and liquid; finding the perfect ratio can take some practice however if i was able to accomplish it i do believe that anyone can you can purchase the full kits pretty much anywhere from Walmart to your local pharmacy. They are durable and look amazing!
above you can see the most common powder and liquid used for acrylic nails. It may seem like a lot of items to get at first but ill tell you; you do not use a lot of the product so really it does last a long time, if your just using for personal use. Now its just finding the perfect combination of liquid to powder ratio. Just a few tips on how to tell if you have the right consistency; If your nails hurt after applying your nails this could be a few things maybe you filed your nail down to far or you used to much powder. If you use to much liquid your nails will not look perfect and will not stay on very long! Finding the perfect consistency can take some practice. I highly recommend that you watch a few YouTube videos before just diving into it.
Find the right size of tip for each nail glue the tip on, be sure not to use too much glue or else they will be uncomfortable and will fall off much sooner than they should; just enough so when you place the tip on your nail the glue spreads only on your nail doesnt goop out underneath or on sides. Then your going to sand the tip to be flush with your nails, not to much just enough to help your powder liquid formula go on smooth and shiny. After your finished smoothing the tip to nail; you then need a Acrylic Nail Brush which are very to find pretty much any walmart or pharmacy should sell them.
So0o now were ready to apply the acrylic mixture, your now going to dip your acrylic brush into the liquid then into the powder youll then see a ball, bead or pearl whatever you want to call it, learning to judge the look of your ball just comes with time again I highly recommend watching a few YouTube videos its always a good idea to watch someone do it first. Start at the top of your nail and work your ball down to the tip of your nail to the best of your abilaty, make it look smooth.
Then use the bad boy above for best results. Using your grinder smooth out anh bumps or creases again starting at the top of your nail going downwards to the tip of your nail, you do not need much presure when using grinders; if you go the old fashion way and use a nail file you might need some more presure and it will take much much longer. Then after you grind do final buff on your nails put a top coat on those babies and va la!
4. Gel Nails
Gel Nails are just awesome simply because it is just so0o easy to do! Its as easy as picking your color.
Bake your nails in the uv light until they dry and harden. And va la!
5. PolyGel Nails
PolyGel Nails are literally like the easiest nail to apply! It comes in a tube; you then place a small blob into nail casing and then gently pat down with acrylic nail liquid and then place on your nail put under UV lamp light for only a few moments then remove nail casing and BAM! you have beautiful flawless nails.
6. Cornstarch Nails
YESSS! you did read that right! CORNSTARCH Nails! When i first seen this done i thought brilliant! cheap easy and beautiful! so0o its pretty basic and simple to do. First you need some tips.
A basic clear coat nail polish;
Now all that you do to master cornstarch nails is glue on your Tips, file the edge of tip that is on your natural nail, put a coat of your clear nail polish on and dip into cornstarch; repeat until you have desired thickness!
And Hot Diggity Dawg you have almost all natural nails for super cheap!!!!!!
Using forms may need some practice but like anything practice makes perfect! again it is finding the perfect powder to liquid ratio.
Now, choosing your form shape, again i recommend watching a few YouTube videos on just how many different shapes there are! you would be shocked on just how many there are. It is just crazy what shapes you can wear on your nails.
now your going to place you form on your nail as seen above. Make your perfect mixture of powder and liquid, place your ball, pearl, bead whatever you call it at the top of your nail and work your way down past the tip of your nail until you have reached your desired length and shape, file down any rough edges and imperfections and WAMMO!!
8. Press on & Glue on Nails
There really is not much to explain on how to use press on nails. you can have the press on nails or glue on nails. just from speaking on my behalf i would rather glue on nails appose to press on nails as they generally stay on much longer i have had some glue on nails that stay on for almost a month even some acrylics will not stay on that long. As far as the press on's they look amazing but i have not had much luck with getting them to stay on for more than a day or two. I always recommend the press on's to children or for those who just want nice nails for a day or two then back to o'natural.
I recommend the glue on nails for those who dont have the money to constantly get their nails filled and another great thing about these glue on nails is that they next to no time to put on it is super easy and they truly are perfect and flawless!
9. Silk Nail Wrap
So0o this one is new to me and i am yet to master it but it is a really cool method to use.
Separate silk and backing through the slit on the top of the box. Pull silk and backing in opposite directions. cut off as needed, place on nails and paint your Gel nail Polish on top Bake under UV light and VA LA!
10. Nail Stamps

The Bottom Line
The bottom line is do your nails the way that makes you feel confident and feels comfortable for you! There are new nail fads coming out almost every day! its kinda hard to keep up with them all. If it is your passion or profession to do nails then that may be another story; All the same it would be extremely hard to keep up with all of the new methods let alone the fads of doing nails. I made the mistake of making my acrylic nails way longer then i usually do (as i seen a lot of girls wearing them that long and just thought it looked really girly and pretty!) and it made my natural nails to tender and sore every zipper, button or even opening a sliding screen door just killed my nails and making a second mistake of trying to tough it out in hopes that my natural nails would eventually get used to having long nails over-top but I quickly realized that when you work a job that requires you to be hands on; Long nails are really not the greatest choice especially when your not used to it, if you plan on going from short to long nails i would highly recommend easing into it each time you get your nails done leave them just a bit longer each time that way your natural nails get the time to adjust to the length.
